We are no strangers to prosecco and sparkling beverages in these parts, it is one of our favourite things to consume during the holiday season! Last December we enjoyed many white cranberry mimosas.

Countdown to Christmas!
We are starting to get excited for the holidays around here.... it is hard to believe it is just over a month away! We are hoping to get some group crafting and baking in around here soon.
To get in the Christmas spirit Stephanie made a little snowman from this pattern Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me posted a few weeks ago. It was a quick little project and will make a great addition to a Christmas gift!
And just in case you were wondering....

meet.make.crochet moose.
Crafting and crocheting has been quiet in these parts as of late.... somehow life always steps up and gets in the way! Hopefully we will get back in the swing of things soon, just in time for Christmas!
I knew I wanted to make a crochet animal for my friend Lindsay's little boy Jack, but was having trouble deciding on a pattern. When I came across the book This Moose Belongs To Me by Oliver Jeffers I knew I had to get it for Jack and make a moose to go with it!

Trick or Treat!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Wishing everyone a 'spooktacular' day filled with lots of fun! Nell is turning 3 months tomorrow and getting so big! We couldn't resist sharing this....
We bought a pumpkin big and round
that lived the summer through
without an eye to look at things
and now it looks through two.
It used to be all dark inside
when growing on the vine
but now it has a toothy smile
and face that's full of shine.

After my first amigurumi attempt, I was hooked (literally... haha)! For my next project I decided to attempt some teddy bears.

meet.make.crochet bride luggage tag.
Today I have a fun little pattern to share with you! One of my closest friends recently got engaged, and decided she is going to have a destination wedding in Mexico. I wanted to send her a little something to commemorate the occasion, so I decided to make a luggage tag that she could attach to her wedding dress bag when she goes on the plane!

meet.make.baby blankets: part 5
So planning for my next baby blanket, I knew I didn't want to make anything too girly or boyish..
Whoa. Wait a second.. can you believe we're already at PART 5 of the blanket series??? Like I said, this was the season for baby blankets.

meet.make.thumbtack art.
Now that all the summer fun has settled, time to get back to business! The kiddies are back to school, season premieres are starting to roll-out, and work-smerk starts to ramp up again... To help motivate ourselves to get our heads back in the swing of things, we decided to indulge in a 'crafternoon' and make some wall art to spice up our offices.

The baby crafting continues....
Over the past while I have made a few new crocheted baby hats. I tried some different patterns, and loved them both! Will definitely be making them again.

meet.make.crochet-along: round ripple baby blanket.
With all the baby blanket making going on in these parts, how fitting was it for Alicia to choose a baby blanket for September's crochet-along project! I have been eyeing this pattern for awhile, so it was perfect timing.

meet.make.giraffe amigurumi.
So I accomplished a big milestone..... I finished my first amigurumi! I'm so very excited how he turned out. I think I may be addicted now, I can't wait to make more! It helps that I bought a big bag of polyfil too so I need to use it all up.

meet.make.baby blankets: part 4
Oh, hello again! Is this another addition to our baby blanket series you ask? Why yes it is!! I've got another one to share with you today. And while you're here, why not have a peak at my granny square blanket, and Steph's additions here and here!!
I think it is fair to say this was definitely the season on baby blankets. So for your enjoyment, here's the blanket I made for Cindy and baby Nell! Ps. Could she BE any cuter? :)Thursday, 19 September 2013
meet.make.root beer floats.
While we were doing our photo-shoot with Nell, we decided we needed a quick and easy treat to indulge in!
There is nothing new about root beer floats... but these ones were extra tasty as we were using Phillip's Intergalactic Root Beer!

meet.make.crochet puppy hat.
Are you sick of all our crochet posts yet? I hope not.... because there are still more to come! We do have some other stuff lined up too though, so stay tuned!
I made this hat for baby Jack, who also received the blanket here. My friend Lindsay is a big dog lover; their dog Levi is an integral part of their family. So when I decided to make a character hat I knew a puppy would be my choice.

Introducing baby Nell!
Hi everyone, it's Cindy! Here's the reason why I've been MIA from the blog... say hello to baby Nell! Here she is on her one-month birthday.
Wednesday, 11 September 2013
meet.make.crochet sleepy owl hat.
So I received a 'not so subtle' hint from our friend Lindsay prior to the birth of her adorable baby Jack. The message went a little like "look at this hat! Isn't it so cute!"... Hmmm... I take this as "maybe you could make this for me?"
CHALLENGE (delightfully) ACCEPTED!

meet.make.baby quilt.
Guess what? This isn't a crochet post! WHATTT you say? We know, it's been so long! Part of the reason it is not a crochet project is that technically none of us made this... but it was too amazing not to share with you all.
Our friend Lindsay made Nell a BEAUTIFUL quilt from scratch. It is crafted to perfection and definitely retail worthy! It was her first time making a quilt believe it or not, she has serious mad skills when it comes to sewing.

#sheepishbloomdrop
I woke up this morning, and realized I had totally forgotten about the sheepish bloom drop planned for this weekend by Meredith over at One Sheepish Girl! Whoops! So I quickly decided to crochet up a flower and go find a home for it....

meet.make.baby blankets: part 3
It's time for another baby blanket post! You can find part one here and part two here. Can I just throw out how difficult it is to get good pictures of blankets for the ol' blog here? We have had a heck of a time taking photos that showcase the blankets! If anyone has any tips we would love to hear them!
I made this blanket for the lovely Lindsay, one of my nearest and dearest friends. (She was my maid of honor at my wedding) I started this blanket prior to her giving birth, but the baby had plans of his own and came 3 weeks early. Jack Andrew was born a few weeks ago, and he is the cutest!! I had to frantically work away to get it done in time to give to her.

meet.make.baby blankets: part 2
As we've probably mentioned more than once.. there has been many new additions to the world lately, including my new baby niece Rose! I had previously made my first knit baby blanket for her brother Luke when he was born, so of course I had to keep the tradition afloat! So here comes another addition to our baby blanket series!

The baby crafting continues: pom pom toque.
When my coworker told me she was expecting in the fall, I decided I needed a quick baby craft to whip up for her!
I really love making baby hats. They're fast, creative, and just oh so teenytiny and cute!
When searching for a project, I came across Sara's merry messy life blog and her pattern for a baby pom pom hat.
The mama doesn't want to learn the gender of her lil'sprout, so I decided to use some 'earthy tones' for the project. I think it turned out really well!

meet.make.crochet-along: hexagon table runners.
Amidst all the baby crocheting, the two of us decided we wanted take a little break to work on Alicia's August crochet-along project. The hexagon table runner seemed like a great stash buster, and the hexagons didn't seem like they would be taxing to whip up quickly.
Check out our project attempts below!

Where did summer go?
Wow! As usual, summer is just flying by us! And what a summer it's been!!
We have been a little MIA around the blog as of late... with vacations, camping trips, weddings, and just SO MANY BABIES, we'll admit it's been a little difficult to schedule a Ladies Night In!
Our DIY projects during these lovely months have been revolving around BABY crafts.
So while Cindy 'crafted' baby Nell, Hayley and Steph have been making a lot of baby gifts which we are hoping to continue sharing with you very soon.
So stay tuned! The updates are on the way!

meet.make.baby blankets: part 1
Between Hayley and I, I think we have 4-5 completed baby blankets to share with you! There have been so many babies lately, that we have barely been keeping up with all the crocheting! Be warned.... meet.make.laugh. might get a little crochet heavy over the next little while!
So as we mentioned, Cindy gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a couple weeks ago. We can't wait to share pictures of Nell with you (she's SO CUTE), but until then you need to be satisfied with pictures of the baby blanket I made for her!

meet.make.boutineers.
A few months ago my lovely new sister-in-law Julia asked me to make some boutineers for their wedding. She didn't want to go the traditional flower route, and so I picked up some burlap, ribbon, jute cord and pearls to make something a little different!
After many failed attempts, I finally came up with something I liked! I cut the burlap into circles, stiffened them with hairspray, and then added different accents to each one.

It's a girl!!
We are so excited to announce that on Thursday, August 1st at 6:10 pm Cindy gave birth to a BEAUTIFUL baby girl weighing 7 lbs 14 oz! Mom and babe are doing great, and get to come home from the hospital today.
Cindy and Josh have named her Nell, which suits her so much! We are the proudest aunties ever. To welcome her home.... we thought we would put a little decoration up!

meet.make.wedding backdrop.
For our wedding, I was searching for something simple and fitting for our ceremony backdrop. After hours of trolling through Pinterest and many, MANY different ideas, the idea of the lace curtain was created.

meet.make.crochet-along: watermelon coasters
It has been awhile since one of us has participated in Alicia's crochet-along, and so this month I was definitely ready to join in! I needed a little break from the baby crocheting and my big afghan and this was the perfect excuse.
The link-up is over at More Than.... by Muriel Mohns, and one of the options was watermelon coasters, which I have been wanting to make for awhile!

meet.make.granny ripple afghan.
The project that felt like it would never end has finally been completed! I decided months ago that I wanted to make an afghan for my brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law as a wedding gift, and it is finally done. I even had a couple weeks to spare. I'm really happy with the finished product, but I think I'm even more happy that I don't have to work on it anymore. ;) Time to move onto some quick gratifying projects!

meet.make.batwing cardigan.
So while Steph is away, Cindy and Hayley will play! This DIY clothing idea has been on our radar for awhile now, and we finally got up the courage to attempt it! Keep reading for our take on the 'easy' Batwing Cardigan!

meet.make.baby room wall art.
Who' excited about all the ROYAL BABY buzz today?! We are, we are!!
All this talk is getting us even more anxious for baby to arrive! Just over TWO weeks until our official due date but as most moms tell me, baby will come, when baby wants too! Sooooo we're making sure all is ready to go! Not quite the same caliber of preparations of the royal family but we have most of our ducks in a row as we await the big day...

The baby crafting continues.... crochet monster hat
I completed another baby hat recently.... a lil' monster hat! This one is going to my lovely friend Stephanie (yes another Stephanie) who is due this month. She doesn't yet know if it is a boy or a girl but I think the lil' monster will work for either!

meet.make.wedding: framed lyrics.
If you hadn't figured out already, my life tends to revolve around music. Certain songs can take you back to your favourite summer, snowboarding in Jasper or maybe even... your first kiss!
For our wedding, I really wanted to encorporate some of Kyle and my "songs" to share with others, and maybe get our guests to think of some of theirs as well!

meet.make.music: summer jams
The summer sun seems to be sticking around Victoria this time.. FINALLY! Which means some serious beach time, camping, hiking and of course, crafting. With all of these fun activities, there is always music involved.
We haven't shared a music post in awhile, so to kick-off the summer months, here are a few of our favorite picks right now!

meet.make.30th birthday piƱata.
Our lovely friend Viv has a big birthday coming up.... 30! We wanted to surprise her with something fun while we all went camping last weekend, and decided that a piƱata would be the perfect way kick-off the celebration. We also made cupcakes, but as delicious as they were, we figured sharing our Betty Crocker boxed cupcakes were not exactly blog worthy.
Originally we wanted to do a paper mache piƱata, but we definitely were not organized to get that done in time. We then decided on using cereal boxes, and followed this awesome tutorial from Bret and Nancye.
Below are some photos of our night making the piƱata... it was almost as much fun to make as it was to watch Viv smash it!

Cheers to the freakin' weekend!
Guess what? IT'S A LONG WEEKEND! WOO!
Here in Canada we have ourselves a 3 day weekend.... and we have a lot of fun things planned to keep us entertained. This mayyyyy include some crafty ideas that we are looking forward to sharing with you. I mean c'mon, what's a long weekend without picking up the crochet hooks and glue guns?
We kicked it off with some tasty beverages... cheers to the freakin' weekend! For all you Canadians out there, have a very happy Canada day on Monday!

The baby crafting continues....
We have so many baby projects on the go, and so few we can share with you! (We don't want to ruin any surprises!) I made this hat for my lovely friend Lindsay who is expecting in September, and couldn't wait to give it to her.

meet.make.mason jar terrariums.
Not sure if it's just us, but we keep seeing terrariums everywhere and it was love at first sight. We decided to make our own, and if you don't have a green thumb like us, than these little plants are a great home project for you! AND they only take 10 min (if that!) to assemble.

meet.make.mail exchange.
When Claire from clairebellemakes contacted us about doing a mail exchange, we were super excited. Having never done a mail exchange before, we thought it would be really fun!
Claire lives in Cambridge, which is literally on the other side of the world from us here on Vancouver Island. How excited were we to receive a parcel with a stamp saying "Royal Mail"? Haha we don't get that around here very often!

Though we were looking forward to receiving a parcel, it was also really fun to put together a package for Claire. Our goal was to put together a bit of Canadiana to send. To see what we ended up mailing, check out her post here!
