Not sure if it's just us, but we keep seeing terrariums everywhere and it was love at first sight. We decided to make our own, and if you don't have a green thumb like us, than these little plants are a great home project for you! AND they only take 10 min (if that!) to assemble.
For the most part, terrariums look the same but we really tried to find embellishments to jazz ours up differently. Lucky for us, Michael's has EVERYTHING...
We used:
- Air plants from a local florist - Rook and Rose
- Mason jars
- Burlap material
- Rope
- Large and small matte black rocks (on sale for $1 a bag.... win!)
- Starfish and sand dollar charms (we came across these in the floral section - so random!)
Even though we used the same materials, we always find a way to add our own spin to them.
To care for the air plant, all you need to do is 'mist' it once a week... Yup! These babies also last forever and grow fairly slowly. Rook and Rose was selling some that were 30 years old that were about the size of a melon - I guess if ours last that long we will need to get a bigger jar!
We have a strong feeling that this is just the first of many terrariums we will make... and what a cute housewarming gift it would be for someone, or to use as office decor! The possibilites are endless...
Did we convince you to make one yet?!
I love terrariums! And this is definitely a great way to use a jar!
ReplyDeleteI love your terrariums! The tiny starfush inside are sooo cute!

These are adorable! And I guess the plants are harder to kill than the once I usually murder ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm wanting to grow a green thumb. A terrarium could be the perfect way to do just that. I love how you gals dressed them up too!
ReplyDeleteOoh I like this. I'm awful at keeping house plants alive so these plants would be perfect for me!
ReplyDeleteLove these! Somehow I still managed to kill my air plants! hahaha that has to take some sort of weird talent, right?
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute and I'm surprised that they seem so easy to take care of! I definitely want to add some of these to my house.
ReplyDeleteHi girls!! I hope you've all been well. Sorry I haven't been around much lately... life.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is an adorable idea. I'm pinning it for my Xmas crafting party next year. I think they'd make great little gifts.
Oh my gosh, these are adorable. They look like lots of fun to assemble too. I love the combination of land and sea. Following your darling blog now!
ReplyDeleteMay the Force be with you.
