The baby crafting continues.... crochet monster hat

Crochet Baby Monster Hat with earflaps

I completed another baby hat recently.... a lil' monster hat! This one is going to my lovely friend Stephanie (yes another Stephanie) who is due this month. She doesn't yet know if it is a boy or a girl but I think the lil' monster will work for either!

I used leftover Loops and Threads Silky Soft Solids yarn with a 5.0 mm hook to create this hat. I love how soft this yarn is, perfect for baby items!

I just made the pattern up as I went along.... taking elements from other patterns that I liked. I love the big eyes on the top of the head, the snaggle tooth, and the braided ear flaps. (An element from the baby monkey hat that I loved!)

I think I may need to write this pattern down so I can make it again. :)

A bonus with this hat - it was small enough to send regular mail and so I didn't have to pay outrageous parcel shipping fees to send it across the country!

  3. I nearly jumped when I saw Stephanie!! This is such a cute hat, I would have been soooo happy if a friend had made this for any of my kiddos - boy and girls, they would all have looked super cute and cheeky in it!
