It has been awhile since one of us has participated in Alicia's crochet-along, and so this month I was definitely ready to join in! I needed a little break from the baby crocheting and my big afghan and this was the perfect excuse.
The link-up is over at More Than.... by Muriel Mohns, and one of the options was watermelon coasters, which I have been wanting to make for awhile!
They worked up really quickly, and I LOVE how they turned out. I hot glued a circle of felt on the back to make them a little more sturdy and to help hold their shape.
I think I want to make some other types of fruit to go with them! Perhaps some lemon and orange slices?
Make sure you head over to the link up to check out some of the other awesome projects!
PS. To add to to the already fruity themed post, Hayley made a crochet watermelon of her own!
While creating a baby blanket for her friend Tanya's baby Sam last year, the colours seemed to come together like a watermelon! So to add a little detail, she used this pattern from Art Threads. Folded the circle sized melon in half, and attached it with yarn to the blanket. Babies like texture right? .. Just too darn cute :)
Who knew there could be so many uses for a crochet watermelon!?
