meet.make.wedding: Stephanie and Pat

In honour of Hayley's upcoming wedding, we will be doing spotlight's on some past weddings we have attended. Most of these weddings happened pre-Pinterest... so we wanted to showcase some of the DIY's and unique features that the bride's (and groom's!) came up with all on their own.

We figured the best way to start off this series is one of our own weddings.... next up is Cindy's!

The couple: Stephanie (me!) and Pat got married August 2nd, 2009... and we just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary!
The photographer: Brandon Patoc Photography

Highlight 1: The oyster bar

After the ceremony, while we were taking pictures, the outdoor patio turned into an Oyster Bar, complete with champagne and a keg of beer.

Highlight 2: The menu

Pat is the executive sous chef at the Inn at Laurel Point, so he organized a special feast for our wedding. Needless to say, he was probably more nervous about the food coming out ok then he was about getting married! Just to make your mouth water, the menu included Coconut Scallop Bisque, Organic Tomato, Bocconcini and Speck Salad, Red Wine Braised Short Ribs, Roasted Halibut with Grapefruit Oil, and lots of other goodies.

We finished off the meal with two types of wedding cake (made by the AMAZING Junko Sadahiro): Lemon Brown Sugar with Passion Fruit Curd and Dark Chocolate with Sour Cherry.

Highlight 3: Centerpieces turned first dance lighting

Pat and I spent time together before the wedding making homemade centerpieces out of bar glasses, vellum paper and ribbon. Each table had three with LED lights inside, and when it came time for the first dance the guests carried the centerpieces outside and placed them in a circle around the patio dance floor.

It was an amazing day, filled with as much food as there was love, laughter, and glass-clinking, which was just how we wanted it. To all the guests who attended, thanks so much for making the day extra special for us! Three years later and we still look back on this day and smile.
