meet.make.yarn wrapped bottles.

Enjoyed a Ladies Night-In of your own, and now you're stuck with a bunch of empty bottles? Well have I got an easy DIY project for you!

I was inspired by a post I came across on the Apartment Therapy website:
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/diy-yarn-wrappe-161672
It looked so simple! And you want to know a little secret... IT WAS!

Supplies used:
3 Empty and Clean beer bottles
2 mm Jute Cording
1 Hot Glue Gun
Various colors of yarn

I decided not to overwhelm myself, and start with three empty bottles. You can remove the label if you decide to have a little show through, otherwise not necessary. This can easily be done by immersing the bottles in water for awhile, enough to peel off the stickers.
This is also a great project to make use of all the extra yarn around your home!

I started by gluing the end of the jute cord to the base of the bottle and just wrapping upwards from there. If glue-gunning is not your forte, you could probably just modge podge the bottle and then wrap. The hot glue and the mod podge will dry clear. I found the cording to be a very forgiving thread.

You could easily stop this project with cord wrapped bottles! I would have been  completely satisfied... however, I was clearly in a crafty mood. Thus, I continued.

On top of the cording, I wrapped some colorful yarn, et Voila!

For these bottles, I decided to just place in a few flowers I grew in the garden...NOT.
I wish. They're fake flowers found at Michaels...
I was so excited to create more of these Yarn Wrapped Bottles, that I've decided to incorporate them somehow into my upcoming Wedding! Use buttons, ribbons, candles, oh my!
Stay tuned for more ideas for how we use them!

  1. Wow, that looks beautiful! I have only used my empty wine bottles as candle holders but your bottles look so much better. :) Thanks for the tip!

  3. So cute! I bet you could find old (tacky) vases at thrift stores and do this on them too. I may try just that and write my own post about it (linking back to this one, of course!). Thanks!
