meet.make.baby blankets: part 1

Between Hayley and I, I think we have 4-5 completed baby blankets to share with you! There have been so many babies lately, that we have barely been keeping up with all the crocheting! Be warned.... meet.make.laugh. might get a little crochet heavy over the next little while!

So as we mentioned, Cindy gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a couple weeks ago. We can't wait to share pictures of Nell with you (she's SO CUTE), but until then you need to be satisfied with pictures of the baby blanket I made for her!

Cindy knew I would be making her a blanket, and had gone with me to pick out the yarn colours. She didn't know what pattern I was going to use, but I did tell her it would be a white base. She settled on yellow, mint green, teal blue, and grey. I love the combo! The yarn is Caron Simply Soft (white, grey, yellow) and Loops and Threads Silky Soft (mint, teal) which I love using for baby things as it is so soft.

I decided to use the pattern Bouncy Ball Baby Blanket that I came across on Ravelry. I loved the look of the polka dot granny squares. Never having actually made a full granny square blanket before, I must say I did not enjoy joining the squares. I used the slip stitch method, but I think I was joining a bit too tight because it didn't end up quite as smooth as I would have liked. Hopefully Nell won't care!

As you can see below the edges aren't quite straight, but I surprisingly actually like it like that! Adds a bit of character.... right??

Stay tuned for a lot more baby blankets!

  12. I have never really knitted before but have recently had the urge to. So yesterday I picked up a think of yarn and started at it. Now mind you I don't have a clue what I am doing but I so want to learn. I am a new follower so please stop by my page and say hi. Your blankets have inspired me to go get a book today and learn how to make one of these. I love knitted blankets. They are so cozy and soft.
