Launch Night.... Ain't No Party Like A West Coast Party!

Our typical Saturday night consists of take-out, Netflix, and some vino. A perfectly good trio but we are excited to shake things up! So here we are...popping our blog cherry.

Even though we’re crafty, not all our creations are original. Big shout outs to the following sites and/or people for inspiring this ladies night in...

Dip: Steph's husband Pat!

We kicked off the night by whipping up a batch of some oh-so-delicious white bean dip. Antsy to get our flower-power craft on, we took just a few but large bites and instantly turned into craft mode. Good thing we had good tunes in the background or it would’ve been awkwardly silent for the first bit! Yes, we are that hardcore. What we couldn’t get enough of, was our rendition of the sparkling peach crantini... Morale of the story, vodka always makes it better! The result, an amazing piece of original jewellery, a few burnt fingers and 3 tipsy gals.... success! Can’t wait for the next MML night! This is how we do it...

How we prep - Getting ready

How we eat – Round up the posse

White Bean Dip (2 servings)
• Thyme but we used rosemary
• 2 garlic cloves
• 2 spoonfuls of oil
• 2 spoonfuls of butter
• 2 cans of white cannellini beans
• 2 cups of chicken stock
• 1 cup grated parmesan/asiago cheese
• Dash of truffle oil
• 50 grams of diced pancetta
• ½ an onion

Step 1 - In a small pot on med-low heat, mix thyme (or rosemary), garlic, oil and butter
Step 2 – Add chopped onion and minced garlic to pot – cook until onions are soft and not brown

Onions and rosemary in the pot!
Step 3 – Drain and rinse beans, then add to the pot along with the pancetta
Step 4 – Add two cups of chicken stock
Step 5 – Let simmer for 30-60 minutes then remove from heat (45 worked well for us!)
Step 6 – Add grated cheese and truffle oil, stir, let sit for 5 min
Step 7 – ENJOY!!

How we drink - Bottle service

  • Fresh cranberries
  • A dash of peach juice
  • Top off with champagne
  • Decorate and add aroma with rosemary
We drank a bit too fast and ran out of champagne. Turns out our substitute was even better.... vodka and raspberry ginger ale.

How we jam – Who’s who on the dance floor

  • Amy Winehouse – Hidden Treasures
  • First Aid Kit – The Lions Roar
  • Gotye – Making Mirrors
  • Lisse – Covered up with Flowers
  • The Morning Benders – Big Echo
  • She and Him – Volume 1 & 2
  • White Rabbits – Its Frightening
  • Jon and Roy – Homes
  • Current Swell – Protect You Own
How we craft – Party party party

Necklace success

  • Fabric of choice
  • Glue gun and a ton of glue sticks
  • Necklace chain of choice and necklace jumpers
  • Ribbon if you’re adventurous
  • Felt – any colour will do

How we did - After party

LOVE LOVE LOVE ! They’re pretty, we’re girly – it works!

How we flopped - The hangover
  • Cheap champagne tastes like cheap champagne
  • Burnt fingers aren’t fun, careful with the glue guns kids
  • Kittens also like white bean dip
  • Denim.... need to finish the cut edges or it frays too much. The dancer in me says use clear nail polish on frays and holes to stop it from running.... but this may or may not work.
