Phillips Intergalactic Root Beer Float

There is nothing new about root beer floats... but these ones were extra tasty as we were using Phillip's Intergalactic Root Beer!

meet.make.green tea infused martini.

With Hayley's wedding coming up in just 2 DAYS, we are busy entertaining lots of friends!  We thought we would go into the meet.make.laugh. vault and pull out one of the first cocktails we made and share it... the tea infused martini! This is a drink we still make from time to time.

meet.make.tropical ginger mojito.

As the dreary wet February days float by, we realized we are SO READY FOR SUMMER! We got together for another exciting ladies night in, and thought this tropical drink might just chase away those winter blues.

Tropical Ginger Mojitos

We knew we wanted to create a cocktail with some ginger, but had a little trouble finding a recipe that appealed to all of us. So off to the grocery store we went and put together what we thought would be a winning combination.

meet.make.mulled wine.

Well the holidays are officially over. I can still pretend right? One of my favourite things during the holiday season is making mulled wine. It brings back memories of gluhwein at German Christmas markets. As you can see below... I have a few clay glasses saved from Christmas markets past which I am always excited to pull out.

During Baking Weekend 2012, one of the things that kept us going throughout the day was a tasty, refreshing treat.... white cranberry mimosas!

meet.make.spiced blackberry mojito.

Whether you're a mojito lover or not, we are pretty sure you will L.O.V.E this drink. We chose blackberries by default as the raspberries and strawberries were sold out. Not knowing what to expect, we completely winged it and were left wanting more!

We are now are converted to the dark-berry side. We might be on to something here...

A tasty effortless, fool-proof drink for us amateur bartenders out there!

meet.make.taste of summer.

Part deux of mml's Summer of the Mocktail.

Our inspiration for this bevie was the eccentric performance by the vivacious Ultra to Duran Duran's "Can you taste the summer." This was part of a burlesque show we saw while visiting Seattle. Never heard this song? Listen below! It's our summer theme!

meet.make.clutch.

A ladies night in getting ready for a ladies night out!

Prepping for our Seattle trip, we decided to save our party and money for the weekend to come. So far we've touched on almost every essential ladies accessory. TIme to complete the perfect outfit with a one of a kind clutch purse made by yours truly.

Even though we’re crafty, not all our creations are original. Big shout outs to the following sites and/or people for inspiring this ladies night in...

meet.make.lavender lemonade cocktail.

Welcome to the Summer of the Mocktail!

Not all drinks need alcohol to be refreshing on a beautiful summers day. Sans alcohol or with a bit of Prosecco, after one of these lavender lemonades you'll be lip smacking and asking for more!

Coming to a lemonade stand near you...

We started with this recipe from Joy the Baker, then added our own spin on it by adding in lemon zest and raspberries.

Ingredients:
6 cups water
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey
3 heaping tablespoons culinary lavender
2 cups fresh lemon juice (approximately 8 lemons)
Lemon zest
Fresh raspberries

Heat 2 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar over medium heat. Heat until all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, and add 1/4 cup of honey and 3 heaping tablespoons dried culinary lavender. Cover and let mixture steep for 10-15 minutes. Once finished steeping, strain out the lavender and make sure you get all the syrup out of the lavender buds.

In a pitcher, combine the lavender sugar mixture with the freshly squeezed lemon juice, remaining 4 cups of water, lemon zest and raspberries. Chill in the fridge.

Serve on its own or mixed with a bit of Prosecco for some zip! To be extra cool, serve in a mason jar like the wannabe hipster you are.

Cheers! What is your favourite thirst quencher for the summer?

High Class High School

What does the smell of Malibu remind you of? Maybe fake ID's, school dances, and nights ending in spooning the toilet bowl?

Time to kick it old school! We're bringing you back to the good ol' days... when all that mattered was where everyone was partying on Friday night. We'll bring the Malibu... you bring the pineapple.

More high school trivia - what classic dish takes 5 min to make and was perfectly satisfying for breaky, lunch, and dinner? Grilled cheese sammies!

If you didn't attend your 10 year high school reunion, don't fret. These high school staples will surely take you down memory lane.

P.S. Dibs out on being the DD.

A Mélange of Table Toppers

7:00pm on a Saturday night...what's there to do? Pub? Nah.  Shop Etsy/Beyond the Rack? Next pay day. Fine, how about a Jillian Michaels workout vid? Ha! Not. A. Chance.

Next time you and your friends have fun-block, try crafting up a table topper storm. We promise these creations will keep the night interesting and then some!

To compliment our coaster craft, we each picked a dish that was simple, delish, and could be eaten around your coffee table. First things first - let's get those drinks made and be sure to keep them coming! Silk Road - we love you! These earl green tea gin and tonics are the ultimate girly cocktail and are dangerously addictive. Quite possibly our new summer drink. As we gulped away, we roasted the curried squash, perfected each caprese skewer and meticulously drizzled each crostini with some honey. A satisfying night if you want to stop there...

But it's 9:00pm and our night is just about to get better (come one, cut us 9-5'ers some slack).

Spice up your living room decor and show off your originality with some homemade coasters. Any excuse to use mod podge, is reason enough. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the fancy new table toppers. Functional, original and cheapy-cheap. Job well done, ladies!

1 LAYER, 2 LAYER, 3 LAYER 4 - A poor girl’s Monet

Paintings, pizzas, slurpees – jealous yet? Picture grade school art class remixed with beer. Two words... Blue Shocker! The sunless island winter inspired a summer themed night full of bright everything! From the pizza toppings to the magazine cut-outs and the iceberg bevies, it was the perfect pick-me-up to the winter blues. Ever watch the movie Chicago? Well we tried, but we were having way too much fun as if we were getting paid to create. Take down your art from Winners and have fun doing a painting that requires no actual talent. Need some creative inspiration? 7-11 slurpee mixed beers. It’s a win-win for everyone.

Launch Night.... Ain't No Party Like A West Coast Party!

Our typical Saturday night consists of take-out, Netflix, and some vino. A perfectly good trio but we are excited to shake things up! So here we are...popping our blog cherry.

Dip: Steph's husband Pat!

We kicked off the night by whipping up a batch of some oh-so-delicious white bean dip. Antsy to get our flower-power craft on, we took just a few but large bites and instantly turned into craft mode. Good thing we had good tunes in the background or it would’ve been awkwardly silent for the first bit! Yes, we are that hardcore. What we couldn’t get enough of, was our rendition of the sparkling peach crantini... Morale of the story, vodka always makes it better! The result, an amazing piece of original jewellery, a few burnt fingers and 3 tipsy gals.... success! Can’t wait for the next MML night! This is how we do it...
