Countdown to Christmas!

We are starting to get excited for the holidays around here.... it is hard to believe it is just over a month away! We are hoping to get some group crafting and baking in around here soon.

To get in the Christmas spirit Stephanie made a little snowman from this pattern Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me posted a few weeks ago. It was a quick little project and will make a great addition to a Christmas gift!

And just in case you were wondering....

What are you doing to get in the Christmas spirit?

Trick or Treat!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Wishing everyone a 'spooktacular' day filled with lots of fun! Nell is turning 3 months tomorrow and getting so big! We couldn't resist sharing this....

Happy Halloween from @meet.make.laugh.

We bought a pumpkin big and round
that lived the summer through
without an eye to look at things
and now it looks through two.

It used to be all dark inside
when growing on the vine
but now it has a toothy smile
and face that's full of shine.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all our wonderful mothers back at home and all of you out there in the big blog-iverse!

A special tribute this year also to the mothers-to-be, including Cindy and her lil' mustard seed and our friend Lindsay and her babe on the way!

Hope you're all being spoiled and enjoying your special day.

We miss you mom's!

meet.make.valentines yarn bomb.

Come on and Share Your Heart! We were excited to participate in the Sheepish Yarn Bomb hosted by Meredith at One Sheepish Girl

Throughout Valentines day, Hayley and Steph shared their #sheepishheartbomb's on our meet.make.laugh. Instagram account. Check it out for more fun pictures from the three of us!

meet.make.nutella bites.

With less then a month until Valentines day, Pinterest has exploded with Valentines DIYs and recipes. Around here (at least for Steph and Cindy), Valentines Day is most often a day spent with girlfriends. Both of the chef husbands are at work as it the busiest day of the year for them!

In honour of these girly Valentines get togethers, we thought we would go into the meet.make.laugh. vault and re-share one of our favourite sweet treats, Nutella bites! These are perfect for any Valentines celebration, whether you are spending it with your loved one, friends, or even as a treat to take to work for the office.

meet.make.mulled wine.

Well the holidays are officially over. I can still pretend right? One of my favourite things during the holiday season is making mulled wine. It brings back memories of gluhwein at German Christmas markets. As you can see below... I have a few clay glasses saved from Christmas markets past which I am always excited to pull out.

meet.make.Happy New Years.

Guess what? It's 2013! Woah! 2012 was a great start to meet.make.laugh., but we are excited for more fun in 2013. What do you want to see us post? More crafts? More recipes? More cocktails? Something brand new? We like suggestions!

'Tis the season of new year resolutions, so here are a few simple ones of ours!

meet.make.turkey buns.

One of my absolute favourite things about Christmas dinner isn't actually the meal itself.... it is the leftovers. Seriously.... the anticipation of a turkey bun almost makes me want to fast forward through the meal! (Almost)

I have spent quite a few years perfecting the formula for the best way to build a turkey bun... and here it is!

STEPHANIE'S PERFECT TURKEY BUN:

Ingredients:
  • A white pull-apart tray bun
  • Turkey pulled apart into little pieces
  • Stuffing (I know you are thinking.... What? Bread on bread? That's weird. Well it is delicious. The spices in the stuffing add to the final product)
  • Gravy
  • Cranberry Sauce
Now there are a few tricks to building the bun that make it into the perfect meal. First, make sure you heat up the turkey, stuffing, gravy, and bun separately (don't heat up the cranberry sauce). Everything needs different time in the microwave to get to just the right temperature for consumption of that item. Then assemble in the following order: bottom bun, stuffing, turkey, 2 spoonfuls of gravy, cranberry sauce, top bun.

After you have assembled, grab about 8 napkins, because this bun is MESSY. But it's worth it. It's delicious.

Enjoy!

How do you use up your leftovers?

meet.make.merry christmas.

With all the holiday festivities and fun, this post is a day late.. But without further ado:
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM MEET.MAKE.LAUGH.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas celebration surrounded by good company and of course, food! We sure did.

None of us travelled home for the holidays this year; a downfall of having chef and mechanic husbands working through the holidays. A benefit? The boys cook Christmas dinner while the ladies enjoy a few festive beverages! We love our little Island Family traditions, and enjoyed the wonderful evening!

Wishing everyone a very happy holiday!

meet.make.wreaths.

Last Christmas, Cindy and I decided we would create the "oh so simple ornament wreath" seen all over the Pinterest boards. For us, it turned out to be a little bit of a Craft Fail, and landed in the trash after the holidays.
Please, don't be fooled by my photo editing techniques.
We shaped a metal coat hanger into a wreath/circle shape, then fastened ornaments along it. Note for future makers: 1. get more ball ornaments than you think you will need  2. shape your hanger wreath into a nice circle with pliers, not a flat pancake oval shape 3. patience.
While creating this post, Cindy informed me that she did not want to be affilated with her wreath, hence, no pictures.

This year I decided to tempt fate again and create the Yarn Wrapped Wreath, which again is seen all over the Pinterest boards and DIY blogs. The wreath is a classic necessary Christmas decoration that I really looking forward to making.

meet.make.ribbon santa ornaments.

Christmas is the perfect time to get your creative mind dancing. So many potential projects to make! Holiday goodies for yourself, friends, and family are always wonderful to create, but we decided this holiday season we wanted to do something for those who maybe needed a little extra cheer this year.

Happy Halloween!

When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam;
May luck be yours on Halloween!

Every Halloween, we love coming up with group costumes. It is always so much fun to plan and dress up together. Unfortunately this year we had no opportunity to go out and dress up, so we thought we would share a couple of our past favourites!

Hayley, Steph, and Cindy as the 3 Blind Mice..... we didn't listen to the rhyme very well and forgot to cut off our tails!

Lindsay as Tinkerbell, Steph as Captain Hook, and Cindy as Peter Pan!

Cindy, Hayley, and Steph as the Queens of Cards! Unfortunately our Queen of Diamonds got the flu this year.... but this was still one of our favourites, perhaps because it involved a lot of little DIY elements?? Those pipecleaner crowns and card staffs were a blast to make.

Wishing everyone a spook-tacular Halloween!

Ode to Mom

Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely moms out there!

The three of us all live away from our mom's, and since we can't be there with them to celebrate in person, we wanted them to know just how much we love and appreciate them!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I hope everyone gets to enjoy a green beer today... We sure are! To add a festive touch to our outfits today we made some 4 leaf clovers from this awesome tutorial by Brenna Berger of Paper & Ink. So simple and so quick!

In the words of the Irish.... Life is like a cup of tea, it is all in how you make it!

Wishing everyone a fun and safe St. Patrick's day.
