meet.make.crochet fingerless gloves.

Victoria weather can often be pretty rainy in the winter, but it doesn't get overly cold. Full-fledged mitts are not really needed, and let's face it, it is such a hassle to take off a mitt to send a text message.

I have been seeing fingerless gloves around a lot lately, and decided I wanted to attempt a pair myself. I came across this pattern for Warm Willies Fingerless Gloves by Susan Hinton on Ravelry, and started crocheting away.

I followed the pattern pretty closely, until it came time to make the top strap. Instead of a crochet strap and buttons, I decided I wanted a different texture. Last fall I had purchased some scrap leather from a flea market, and had yet to use any of it, so decided to try adding it to my gloves with some embroidery thread.

My only issue was I didn't really have any clue how to make holes through the leather. I am sure there is some fancy tool for it, but I just attempted using a big needle. This probably wasn't the greatest idea... I think it took me just as long to stitch those straps on in the X pattern as it did to crochet the rest of the glove.

I'm really happy with how these turned out, and have worn them every day since completion. They match my crochet slouchy hat perfectly. I may just need to invest in some sort of leather hole punch to make some more!
