High Class High School

What does the smell of Malibu remind you of? Maybe fake ID's, school dances, and nights ending in spooning the toilet bowl?

Time to kick it old school! We're bringing you back to the good ol' days... when all that mattered was where everyone was partying on Friday night. We'll bring the Malibu... you bring the pineapple.

More high school trivia - what classic dish takes 5 min to make and was perfectly satisfying for breaky, lunch, and dinner? Grilled cheese sammies!

If you didn't attend your 10 year high school reunion, don't fret. These high school staples will surely take you down memory lane.

P.S. Dibs out on being the DD.

Even though we’re crafty, not all our creations are original. Big shout outs to the following sites and/or people for inspiring this ladies night in...

Guest List: Cindy, Hayley, Steph and Chelise. Want to know what makes us tick? Visit our Guest List

How we prep... Getting ready

In honour of our dear friend Ashleigh's birthday, our craft for the night was Malibu drizzled cupcakes and prepping a table of treats for the after party.

Three steps to making the cupcakes:

  • Bake the malibu cupcake
  • Drizzle with malibu syrup
  • Ice with malibu icing
Lots of malibu. Lots of goodness!

How we eat... Round up the posse

Not that the Wonderbread-Kraft grilled cheese needs to be tweaked... but now that we're ladies, a proper meal is only fitting.

You will need:
  • Sourdough bread
  • Butter
  • Brie
  • Avocado
  • Tomato
  • Our friend Ashleigh's homemade red pepper jelly

Make a sandwich of sliced brie, avocado, tomato, and red pepper jelly. Melt butter in frying pan, place sandwich in pan, flip when nice and golden, and enjoy!

How we drink... Bottle Service

Hello Hawaiian Sunset! A meet.make.laugh creation believe it or not. Recommended intake - a MINIMUM of 3 each... cause it's that good. Biases aside - we still got it.

You will need:

  • Malibu rum
  • Mango juice
  • Sparkling grapefruit soda
  • Grenadine

Mix in whatever proportions seems good to you. It all tastes good.

How we jam.. Who's who on the dance floor

Fun - Some Nights
Birdy - Birdy
Project X - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
La Roux - La Roux
Coeur de Pirate - Blonde
Rihanna - Talk that Talk
Madonna - MDNA
Grimes - Visions

How we craft...party party party

We had a lot of fun decorating our table... pipe cleaners and candy make everything look good.

And what gal doesn't like pink?

How we did...after party

We consumed every last brie melted bite and the evening was certainly not the last of our Hawaiian Sunset nights... we will meet again!

The next night, the cupcakes got eaten! We're not counting on our own TLC show anytime soon but our friends left happy.

How we flopped...the hangover

We didn't! Everything turned out better than we expected. We definitely would've been the cool kids back in the day with these party faves.

Ok so maybe the icing was a little runny and the cupcake liners were a tad sticky (we added a second liner overtop to cover it up) but they tasted heavenly. Besides size - taste is all that really matters.

Happy Birthday Ashleigh!
