The day started off promising.... the weather forecast looked good, and we had plans to make amazing crafts all day at the beach!

We arrived at the beach to cloudy weather.... and it stayed that way. All day. 
Strike one.

We started by trying to craft some fun and cute wire rings. Inspired by this pin and this pin. Initially we thought this would be a quick and easy project. Turns out it was more complicated then expected. They turned out ok... but wouldn't you know it- the wire we picked makes our skin itch! So not really worth wearing. 
Strike two.

Guess what? HAYLEY GOT ENGAGED!

Recently, Kyle and Hayley jet-setted to Mexico to celebrate 9 years together...

And they came back ENGAGED!!!! Good job Kyle for keeping it a secret.

Part deux of mml's Summer of the Mocktail.


Our inspiration for this bevie was the eccentric performance by the vivacious Ultra to Duran Duran's "Can you taste the summer." This was part of a burlesque show we saw while visiting Seattle. Never heard this song? Listen below! It's our summer theme!

We have been up and running for 6 months, and are still learning the ropes of the blog world, but we thought it was time for a remix. Thanks to all our friends and followers who have joined in our adventures as we work the kinks out.

So when we say our DIY blog.... we mean our DIY blog. We realize it's not the work of a web designer, but we had a lot of fun sitting around a coffee shop and arguing over header fonts. We think it captures a little taste of all three of us.

A ladies night in getting ready for a ladies night out! 

Prepping for our Seattle trip, we decided to save our party and money for the weekend to come. So far we've touched on almost every essential ladies accessory. TIme to complete the perfect outfit with a one of a kind clutch purse made by yours truly.

A project that doesn't require you to follow instructions... perfect for a lazy Saturday! 

meet.make.lavender lemonade cocktail.

Welcome to the Summer of the Mocktail!

Not all drinks need alcohol to be refreshing on a beautiful summers day. Sans alcohol or with a bit of Prosecco, after one of these lavender lemonades you'll be lip smacking and asking for more!

 

Coming to a lemonade stand near you...

We started with this recipe from Joy the Baker, then added our own spin on it by adding in lemon zest and raspberries. 

Ingredients: 

6 cups water

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup honey

3 heaping tablespoons culinary lavender

2 cups fresh lemon juice (approximately 8 lemons)

Lemon zest

Fresh raspberries

Heat 2 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar over medium heat. Heat until all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, and add 1/4 cup of honey and 3 heaping tablespoons dried culinary lavender. Cover and let mixture steep for 10-15 minutes. Once finished steeping, strain out the lavender and make sure you get all the syrup out of the lavender buds.

In a pitcher, combine the lavender sugar mixture with the freshly squeezed lemon juice, remaining 4 cups of water, lemon zest and raspberries. Chill in the fridge.

Serve on its own or mixed with a bit of Prosecco for some zip! To be extra cool, serve in a mason jar like the wannabe hipster you are.
